Paul Pitcoff is Emeritus Professor at Adelphi University. He had multiple careers in education, film, law, and youth development. He has a Master’s in Fine Arts from New York University, and a law degree from Cardozo Law School.
Paul founded and directed the development of the Film Program and the Department of Communications at Adelphi University, in which he served as chair for over fifteen years.
Concurrently Paul, produced and directed numerous award-winning documentary films.
Paul left his tenured position at Adelphi after twenty years, to work as an attorney in the areas of child welfare. After several years he and Betsy Krebs, founded the Youth Advocacy Center, where they developed a program to prepare teens in foster care for independent living. The program was replicated throughout the United States and was offered at universities including Columbia, Harvard, and Hofstra law schools.
In 2006, Rutgers University Press, published Paul and Betsy’s book, Beyond the Foster Care System, about preparing teens in foster care for independent living.
Cold War Secrets, was inspired by recently released FBI transcripts related to the secret life of Paul’s father.
Paul is currently at work on Tenure, a novel about mid-life change set at a university.
